Whittier, CA - The Whittier Police Department is seeking the public's help in bringing three suspects to justice who allegedly shot two Whittier residents in the 7200 block of Whittier Avenue. At 3:45pm, Whittier Police Officers responded to a call of shots fired with a victim down across the street from John Greenleaf Whittier Park. Arriving on scene, officers discovered an additional victim on the ground. Both victims received a single gunshot wound; one to the hip and one to the leg.
As officers began speaking to the victims, they learned that three "gang types" approached them and asked them "where they were from," implying a gang affiliation. The victims responded by denying no affiliation whatsoever. At this point the three suspects began shooting "5-6 shots." Immediately after the shooting stopped, the suspects fled eastbound into the west alley of Whittier Avenue where a "compact" car was waiting. According to witnesses, the vehicle fled southbound and out of sight.
While the suspect description was limited, the Whittier Police Department is seeking the public's help in obtaining additional information that could lead to the suspect's apprehension. Anyone with information is urged to call (562) 945-8250
