Whittier, CA - On February 25, 2010 at approximately 10:45pm, Whittier PD Officers responded to the 7200 block of Comstock Avenue regarding an assault. When officers arrived, they located a 52 year-old male victim and Whittier resident with obvious head injuries. According to the victim, the suspect approached him as he was walking down the street and demanded he hand over his belongings. The victim told the suspect he had nothing value to give him, at which time the suspect pulled out what appeared to be a tire iron and begin to strike the victim several times in the head and upper torso area. After being struck several times, the victim fell to the pavement and the suspect steals his backpack. The victim suffered non-life threatening head injuries and was transported to County USC hospital for treatment. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic in his 20's, medium build, wearing a gray t-shirt.
