VONS Federal Credit Union Robbed

Santa Fe Springs, CA. – The VONS Federal Credit Union, located within the VONS Distribution Center at 12801 E. Excelsior, was robbed today at approximately 10:00am. While claiming they were executing a delivery to the Distribution Center, four male black adults entered the premises in a red 4-door Buick LaSaber and proceeded to the credit union. After arriving, three of the suspects exited the vehicle leaving the driver behind who drove away from the credit union. Once inside the credit union the suspects allegedly demanded cash and used force against a female inside, who was later transported to a local hospital with a minor head injury. An unknown amount of cash was taken during the robbery and the three suspects fled from the location into a Silver PT Cruiser parked off the premises.

Giving chase, a security guard would catch up to the PT Cruiser while driving a brown van. Once along side the suspect vehicle, the three suspects pointed handguns at the guard and began firing. An unknown amount of cartridges were discharged while the guard fled for his safety. The security guard was not injured and the PT Cruiser fled the area in an unknown direction.

Moments later, a witness spotted the red Buick LaSabre and alerted responding officers who would catch up to the car as it entered the northbound lanes of the 5 freeway. Once sufficient units arrived, a traffic stop was conducted without incident. The vehicle would be positively identified by witnesses and the driver was arrested. The other three suspects are outstanding at this time and are described as male Black adults.

The Whittier Police Department would like to encourage anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Whittier Police Department at (562) 945-8250.
