On June 19, 2008 at 1:31am, officers observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed in the Uptown Whittier area. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the suspect attempted to eluded the police unit. A short pursuit ensued, which ended when the suspect collided with the Rick's Burgers building at Penn and Greenleaf. Damage to the suspect vehicle and the building were minor.
Two known WVL gang members were arrested. The vehicle was stolen earlier in the night.
