Santa Fe Springs, CA - On January 17, 2010 at approximately 1:00am, Whittier PD Officers patrolling Santa Fe Springs were dispatched to a business in the 11800 block of Slauson Ave., in regards to a possible burglary. A person from a neighboring business called the police to report a window smash to the front door. When officers arrive they conduct a search of the interior for possible suspects during which time they discover an extensive marijuana grow.
It appears the suspect(s) entered through the smashed front door and cut approximately 38 mature marijuana plants and then fled through the rear door. A locked room containing an additional 50 plants and another room with 20 smaller plants were also located. There was no evidence to indicate that the business was a legitimate or known dispensary. There were no desks, phones, or other office equipment, just extensive amounts of cultivation equipment. This matter is still under investigation, and Detectives are trying to locate the owner of the office.
