Whittier, CA – On March 17, 2010 at approximately 3:00pm, Whittier PD officers responded to the 7900 block of Milton Avenue regarding a call of shots fired with a victim possibly down in the alley. Upon arriving on scene, officers were told the victim, a 58 year-old male and Whittier resident, was shot three times and sought medical attention on his own at an area hospital while the suspect fled the area on foot. Officers responded to the hospital where the victim was being treated for three non-life threatening gun shot wounds to his arm, leg and upper torso area.
A short time later, while officers were canvassing the area, an officer found the suspect walking in the area of Mar Vista Avenue and Colima Road. The suspect was arrested and a handgun was recovered. He was transported to the Whittier PD jail and is being charged with possession of a concealed weapon and suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Additionally, a second suspect was arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for his involvement in the incident. The motivation for the assault is currently under investigation.
