On September 19, 2006 at 3:20am, Whittier Police Officers responded to the 15000 Block of Whittier Blvd. for a traffic collision that had just occurred. While investigating, officers learned that the driver fell asleep and the vehicle had clipped a pole holding a banner across Whittier Blvd. The vehicle then collided with an electrical panel and damaged a Verizon fiber-optics cable. Whittier Blvd at Mills Ave was shut down for approximately 1 ½ - 2 hours however, the driver sustained no injuries.
Motorists are reminded to stop their vehicles and call for a ride when they are fatigued.
