Fast Reporting Leads to Four Arrests

On 09/05/06, at approximately 8:00am, the Whittier Police Department responded to assist a citizen who was reporting suspicious persons on his front porch. According to the resident, he heard someone knock on the front door and saw a few subjects "acting suspicious" on his porch. After waiting several minutes for them to leave, the resident opened the window and asked what they wanted. They appeared startled and asked if someone lived at the location. After this brief verbal exchange the subjects walked away, only to be located by officers a few moments later. All four suspicious persons were located in two different vehicles. Talking to them separately, all had different stories. Ultimately, one of the juvenile suspects admitted they were in the area to commit a burglary. In one of the vehicles, officers located rubber gloves, pry tools, and property, which is believed to be from a previous burglary. All four suspects were arrested and identified as Jerome Watts (12-13-83), Isaiah Newcome (11-10-85) and two juveniles. This is an excellent arrest and outstanding reporting on behalf of the homeowner!
