A shooting occurred on Sunday, March 4th at 4:34pm at the AM/PM located at the corner of Lambert Rd. and Calmada Ave. The victim who is described as 35 year old male was shot several times. The suspect Anthony Ramirez who 25 years of age, and resides in Whittier, is an acquaintance of the victim. Ramirez went to the gas station with the victim, and was sitting in the victim's car when the shooting occurred. Ramirez left the area on foot after the shooting, but was taken into custody later that night in the 12900 block of Dunton Drive. The victim was transported to UCI Hospital in critical condition where he currently remains. The reasons for the shooting is undetermined at this time.
On March 7th, 2007, the Los Angeles District Attorneys Office charged Anthony Ramirez with the following crimes; attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, using a firearm to commit great bodily injury, possession of a loaded firearm, and possession of methamphetamine for sales. In addition Ramirez also faces a gang enhancement for his actions. Ramirez's bail is set at $1,000,000.00 on the open charges and a no bail parole hold.
