Whittier - On Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a call of an attempted kidnapping in the area of 6300 Whittier Ave. The 17 year-old girl was walking out of her apartment when she saw a man standing near by. As she walked away from her home, she was grabbed by the waist from behind and dragged several feet. She began to scream and family members and neighbors came to her aid. The suspect let go of the girl and ran northbound on Whittier Ave. A family member and neighbors gave chase in an attempt to apprehend the suspect, but the suspect was lost in the area of Hadley St. and Whittier Blvd.
The suspect is described as a male 18 to 25 years-old, with short red hair and a medium built. The suspect wore a red shirt with tan pants.
