19 Year-old Male Dies in Traffic Collision

On August 27, 2007, at 7:31 p.m., Whittier Police Department officers responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of Whittier Blvd. and Mar Vista St.. When the officers arrived, they found two occupants inside a silver, Nissan 350 z. The car was traveling westbound on Whitttier Blvd. and lost control before it entered the intersection. The car struck a curb, a light pole, and a vehicle that was stopped at the intersection. The car rolled over onto its roof before coming to a rest.

The 19 year-old male driver, a Whittier resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The male passenger, who has not been identified, was transported to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center and is currently in stable condition.

Witnesses said, the vehicle may have been racing a Ford F-150 before it lost control. Anyone with information should contact the Whittier Police Department at (562)945-8250.
