Santa Fe Springs - On June 7, 2009 at 10:46pm a single vehicle collision occurred in the area of Smith and Arlee. A vehicle travelling westbound on Smith at a high rate of speed collided with a parked tractor-trailer. The impact caused major damage to the vehicle and Santa Fe Springs Department of Fire and Rescue had to extract the driver. He was transported to a trauma center for treatment. Whittier Police Department Traffic Bureau officers conducted a lengthy investigation at the location, causing prolonged street closures.
