Domestic Violence Assault

On April 8th, 2007 at 01:23 am, officers responded to 13100 block of Hadley Ave. in regards to a 911 call of a female heard screaming in the background, a possible domestic violence. When officers arrived, there was no answer at the apartment, however neighbors claimed there was a major fight between a female and a male that had taken place inside the apartment just prior to our arrival. As we knocked on the door, a male inside stated that he would not come out and that the officers will have to take the door down to get him out. At the same time, officers heard a female pleading with the male to open the door and allow the police to enter. Officers and a Sergeant forced entry and took the male into custody. The female victim was disoriented and had numerous facial injuries as a result of being assaulted. She was transported to Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital. The victim said she was able to leave the apartment just prior to our arrival and attempted to knock on neighbor doors when the suspect grabbed her by the hair and pulled her back into the apartment.
