Subject: AMBER ALERT Issued for 13-Year-Old Whittier Girl
Whittier, CA. – The Whittier Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a 13-year-old girl who was abducted from her home (6300 Pickering Avenue) at 7:00pm on July 31st. The victim, Cynthia Irene Hernandez, her mother, and the suspect, Juan Cuella Hernandez (the victim’s Uncle) were involved in an argument over child care. The involved parties then went outside where they continued arguing. As Cynthia’s mother attempted to take the victim back inside the home, the suspect grabbed the Cynthia and pushed her into the tuck (described below). The suspect then drove away with the Cynthia in an unknown direction. Cynthia is asthmatic and without her medication.
Juan Hernandez is wanted for the abduction of Cynthia as well as a parole violation. He has told family members in the past that he carries a handgun, possibly a .380 caliber semi automatic.

Female Hispanic - 13 yrs, 5-11, 240 lbs, brown hair, brown eyes
Wearing a pink t-shirt, Blue jean shorts, white shoes
Wearing brown plastic rim eye glasses
Suspect: Juan Cuella Hernandez
Male Hispanic, 45 yrs, 5-10, 240 lbs, black hair, brown eyes
Wearing gray slacks and a green long sleeve button up shirt
Tattoos: The letter “B” on left and right upper chest and a tower on left upper arm
Vehicle: Black 1994 Chevrolet Silverado 2 door pick-up truck CA license plate 8N84118, the vehicle’s hood is faded gray.
