Subject: Whittier PD Arrests Two Suspects after Discovering Extensive Vandalism
Whittier, CA. – On September 22, 2009, the Whittier Police Department arrested two suspects in conjunction with a series of vandalisms in the area of 11500 Floral Avenue in Whittier. Officers responded to the area at 6:00am after residents observed two suspicious subjects that may have been involved in a tagging incident. While searching for the subjects, Officers discovered several acts of graffiti in the area. The vandalism included spray painting to a church and glue smeared on several parked vehicles. Dexter Jr. High School was vandalized with spray paint as well as city property throughout the surrounding area. The investigation continued and Officers located other witnesses that led them to a house on Court Ave. One of the witnesses identified a male juvenile from the house on Court Ave., who subsequently admitted to the vandalism as well as burglarizing a vehicle in the area. Information from this suspect led to the identity of the second suspect that was later arrested. The preliminary estimate of damages is in excess of $10,000.00.
Both suspects were arrested for vandalism of a religious institution, two counts of felony vandalism, and auto burglary.
