On 5/24/07 at 09:44 am, an anonymous person contacted the Whittier Police Department and advised that two males were spray painting the back wall of their property located in the 13500 block of Franklin Street. When Whittier police officers arrived, they observed the two males spray painting the wall. As officers attempted to detain the two suspects, one of the suspects attempted to run from the officers. The suspect was quickly apprehended and both suspects were taken into custody for vandalism. The two are identified as 14 years old juveniles. One of the suspects is a Whittier resident and the other suspect resides in Norwalk.
Based on what was painted on the wall, the officers utilized the graffiti tracker to determine if there were any other captured photos of the same type of graffiti. Officers were able to match seventy others incidents of vandalism to one suspect and four others to the second suspect. Both suspects admitted to over seventy acts of vandalism in the area. Formal charges are currently pending for the juveniles.
