On August 29, 2009 at 11:20 pm, three robbery suspects accosted a juvenile in the 6300 block of Whittier Avenue and demanded money. The victim resisted and the suspects fled on foot. moments later, the three suspects approached another juvenile and demanded money. When the victim stated that he had no money, the suspects instead took a sling the victim had for an inured arm. Moments later, officers were flagged down by the victim and a search of the area resulted in the arrest of two of the three suspects. The third suspects fled from officers, which called for a large-scale search. K-9 officers from Montebello, Pasadena and South Pasadena and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Aero Bureau provided assistance during the search. The third suspect was located on the roof of a house on Broadway Street.
Arrested were Bonilla, Guillermo from El Monte (7/20/78), Lara, Vincent from Whittier (2/10/85) and Grandos, Agustine from Whittier (3/9/84). All were charged with robbery and attempted robbery.
