Short Pursuit Ends With Arrest of DUI Driver

While patrolling Santa Fe Springs on January 3rd at 11:30pm, a Whittier Police Officer observed a speeding vehicle near Alondra and Carmenita. As he attempted to stop the car for the speeding violation, a pursuit ensued. As the pursuit began, the driver started swerving from side to side all over the road. Within a very short time the driver yielded near Firestone and Valley View. During the traffic stop, the driver, Bailey, J.T. (9-19-59) of Buena Park, became belligerent, combative and appeared intoxicated. He refused to follow the officer’s orders and “spun around” on the arresting Officer when handcuffing was attempted. A taser was used in order to gain control of the subject who was later arrested for DUI.
