Today at 3:30pm officers detained a juvenile for vandalism in the area of Willake and Houghton in the City of Santa Fe Springs. Upon further investigation, the officers found a number of items in the juvenile's backpack that did not belong to him. At the same time, another officer was in the process of taking a residential burglary report on Dunning Street. After talking to the officers with the juvenile, the officer determined that the items in the juvenile's possession were taken in the burglary. The juvenile was taken into custody.The suspect may be responsible for additional burglaries and related crimes in the City of Santa Fe Springs.

Burglaries happen at all times of the day. It is important to lock your doors, garage and windows when you leave your house or apartment.
