Taking Guns off the Street

Officers from the Whittier Police Department arrested Brandon Valdez, a local gangmember, for posession of a loaded firearm and for resisting arrest on Monday (05/29/06). At approximately 1:00am, Whittier Police Officers responded to a call of loud music in the 7700 block of Comstock Avenue. As officers approached the apartment complex they saw Valdez looking in through a window and holding a handgun. As officers instructed Valdez to drop the handgun, he fled on foot through a backyard. Moving quickly, officers contained the area and later found Valdez underneath a parked vehicle. He was subsequently arrested and the handgun was recovered.
