The Whittier Police Department found an 84 year-old woman who suffered from Alzheimer's and dementia at 1:37 pm on May 31, 2006. Blanche Joy Tranberg, a long-time Whittier resident, was reported missing from her family's home at 11:45 AM on May 31, 2006. Family members reported Tranberg missing from the 12400 block of Beverly Drive, in Whittier, after seeing the rear patio door ajar.
Within minutes of Tranberg being reported missing, Whittier Police Officers were on-scene to begin the search. With an accurate clothing and physical description in-hand, officers began canvassing the area in all directions. Approximately two hours later, Tranberg was located unscathed and evaluated by medical professionals. Ultimately, Tranberg returned to her family's home and is now resting comfortably.
