On June 27th at approximately 11:15pm, Whittier Police Officers responded to the Michigan Post Office due to a "suspicious" package being discovered. The package was addressed to the Whittier Police Department and lacked a return address. Due to the suspicious nature of the parcel, the LACO Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene and X-Rayed the box which was later found to contain rags.Citizens are reminded that any person who maliciously sends or mails any false or facsimile bomb to another person, with the intent to cause another to fear for his/her personal safety or the safety of others, is guilty of a crime according to section 148.1(d) of the California Penal Code.
