Catalytic Converter Thieves Arrested

While working patrol on Friday, July 11th at 11:30 pm, a Whittier Police Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Jordan Road in the 10700 block. The driver and passenger turned out to be gang members from Huntington Park. After speaking with them for some time, their stories didn’t add up. The Officer eventually searched their vehicle and found two recently removed catalytic converters in their trunk. Both suspects were arrested for suspicion of possessing stolen property. One of the arrestees would cop-out to stealing the catalytic converters, but wasn’t familiar enough with the area to say where the thefts occurred.
