On October 6th at 2:45am, a Whittier resident called to report suspects tampering with her neighbor’s vehicle. When officers arrived, a vehicle was driving out of the area. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and a brief pursuit ensued. Officers lost the vehicle, but found it abandoned a short time later and set up a containment with the help of the Sheriff's helicopter. One suspect was located within the containment almost immediately and a second was located approximately 15 minutes later. Officers conducted a follow-up investigation and determined there were two victims of thefts from vehicles on Tedemory and a third victim on Ocean View. Based on the amount of property recovered from the suspects’ vehicle, it is likely there will be additional victims. If you should discover you are a victim of auto burglary, please contact the Whittier Police Department at 562.945.8250.
Suspects Richard George (06-16-90) and Christopher Fernandez (12-26-89), both residing in Whittier County, were arrested.
