Hit and Run Suspect in Custody

On Wednesday morning at 9:50am, a female driver ran a red light while driving westbound on Florence Avenue while a Norwalk metro bus entered the intersection from southbound Orr & Day Road. After the broad side collision, the female sprinted away from the vehicle and hid in the back lot of a nearby strip mall. She was quickly captured and ultimately identified as the driver before being arrested for the felony offense. About 20 passengers were on board the bus and two complained of pain and refused treatment at the time. Mayra Escobar, 18, of Bell Gardens was arrested for the crime.
