Santa Fe Springs - On April 6, 2009, Jonathan Aguirre (DOB: 8-3-88, from Los Angeles) got into an altercation with his estranged 20-year-old girlfriend at her place of employment in Santa Fe Springs. Aguirre physically took her purse and attempted to leave in his vehicle. The victim, attempting to reclaim her property, reached into the vehicle, at which time Aguirre drove off, dragging her along. She sustained injuries to her arms and legs during the incident and was not able to reacquire her property.
On April 23, 2009, Whittier Detectives assigned to Santa Fe Springs and the Problem Oriented Policing Team conducted surveillance at Aguirre's residence, where he was safely taken into custody. The property taken during the robbery was located. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and robbery.
