Simple Assault Leads to Arrest of Victim

On 04-30-09 at approximately 0228 hours, a self-employed contractor (Lawrence Chavez 04-17-63) was working at Los Sanchez restaurant located at 12831 Whittier Blvd. He was approached by an intoxicated female (Carol Gose 09-23-59) who proceeded to ask him if he had any work for her husband. The contractor told her he did not have any work available at which point the two became involved in a verbal argument. The female eventually left the location only to return several minutes later with her intoxicated husband (David Gose 11-18-63). The contractor proceeded to tell David he did not have any work for him at which point, David punched Chavez in the face with a closed fist. The men got into a short scuffle after which David and Carol walked away westbound on Whittier Blvd. Chavez attempted to get the clerk at the Chevron station to call the Police but to no avail. Chavez then got into his vehicle and attempted to follow them and began driving erratically on Whittier Blvd., according to him, making an attempt at getting someone to call the Police. Chavez ultimately attempted to block their path on the sidewalk and in doing so, struck David with his vehicle. David sustained minor injuries to his leg and was transported to Presbyterian Hospital via ambulance. Chavez was desirous of prosecution for the original assault and Gose was cited out for battery. Lawrence Chavez of Whittier was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
