Former Reserve Officer Reports Burglary In Progress

On 09/17/08 at 9:14am, a former Whittier Police Department Reserve Officer
reported an in-progress burglary in the area of 14450 E. Carnell St. He provided a good description of the suspects and their vehicle as it left the area. Moments later, a Whittier Police Officer located the suspect vehicle on Gunn Ave approaching Lambert. When back up units arrived, they conducted a felony stop on Mulberry Street. Ultimately, 3 suspects were arrested and identified as Fernando Villalba, 21, of Los Angeles, Benigno Madriles, 28, of Huntington Park and Jose Lopez-Monter, 28, of Los Angeles. Jewelry suspected of being taken from the residence was recovered and returned to the homeowner.
