Police Services Officer Assaulted
On September 27th at 9:40 pm, a Santa Fe Springs Police Services Officer was assigned to a wedding reception at the Clarke Estate when he was approached by a drunk male who started getting very aggressive. At one point the subject, Sperry (6-6-60) of Whittier, told the PSO “you should watch your back, I am going to throw you through a table.” Sperry continued his belligerence and kept telling the PSO to allow him talk on the radio. He also threatened physical harm against the PSO. After Sperry said this, he leaned forward and jabbed the PSO in the chest (checking to see if he was wearing a vest or not). With this, the PSO felt he might become involved in a fight and called for Code 3 back up. Once Sperry saw the PSO call for assistance, he backed down and walked away. Officers arrived and detained Sperry until he was taken into custody. Sperry was arrested for battery and public drunkenness.
