Shortly before midnight on Christmas Eve, a Whittier Police Officer responded the police department's lobby where a 19-Year-Old Whitter resident was reporting a robbery. The victim was walking in the area of Comstock Ave and Walnut Street when he was approached by two suspects. The victim said he heard what he believed to be a knife blade locking. One of the suspects demanded property from the victim and he gave the suspects an MP3 player and a cell phone. The suspects fled in an unknown direction but the victim was able to describe one of them in a fashion that resembled the description of a subject that the officer taking the report had sighted in the area earlier in the day.
Next, the officer contacted a Whittier Detective and they conducted a follow-up investigation that ultimately led to the identification and arrest of the suspect aforementioned. While at the station, the officer spoke with another officer, who had just come on duty. This officer believed he knew the second suspect and further investigation led to the victim identifying him which in turn, led to his arrest.
