On July 8, 2006 at 5 p.m. two female suspects were knocking on doors in the area of the 11300 block of Maxine in Santa Fe Springs offering magazine subscriptions. At one of the houses, one suspect distracted the homeowner with magazine information while the second suspect entered the home, searched for and stole a large sum of cash. Officers were dispatched to the area after the victim realized they were burglarized. Officers were able to locate one of the suspects as she was counting the money. She was arrested for residential burglary.Residents are reminded that burglars use a variety of ways to enter homes or observe homes as potential targets. Door-to-door sales is one method used by criminals to look into your home for valuables or to distract you so an accomplice could enter your home and burglarizes it.
