While patrolling Santa Fe Springs, a Whittier Police Officer noticed a car running several stop signs. After pulling in behind the car, all of the occupants, except the driver, bailed out and ran into a nearby house. Moments later, the officer saw the car resume it's course and continue to run stop signs. Ultimately, the car would stop and the officer contacted the driver. After doing so, the officer learned that the driver had no ID, and upon searching the car, found a meth pipe, several credit cards in different names, several driver's licenses, and a piece of paper with credit "profiling" information. Fearing he had warrants, the driver also used his brother's information during the contact. The driver was arrested for suspicion of receiving stolen property.
While this is a great arrest, citizens need to consider the origin of the stolen property. Most likely, the driver's licenses, credit cards, and other personal documents came from vehicle burglaries. Citizens are reminded to never leave valuables in plain sight in a vehicle and further reduce the risk of theft by removing valuable information from their cars.
