Kidnapping Leads to Robbery
Santa Fe Springs - On May 5th at 2pm, a jeweler from Los Angeles received a phone call from a prospective customer to meet at the Michael's Super Burgers (11506 Slauson Avenue) so he could look at the jeweler’s wares and conduct a transaction. After this was done, the suspect asked the victim if he could give him a ride to his jewelry business in L.A. to look at more items for sale. The jeweler agreed to do so but plans went awry when the suspect pulled out a knife and ordered the victim to drive to the victim’s house in East L.A and give him cash that was kept at the home. The victim gave the suspect cash kept at the home and was ordered to drive the suspect to his(victim's) business in downtown L.A. so more inventory could be forced over to the suspect. The victim noticed that during the drive, a follow vehicle was keeping tabs on the victim’s travels. At the business, the victim handed over a gold bar and the suspect forced him to sell the item at a local gold exchange business. This was done and the victim handed over more cash from the sale. The suspect then left the victim’s location and got into the waiting ‘chase’ car and drove away. The crime was reported to LAPD then transferred to Whittier PD. The main suspect involved was a male Hispanic, about 25 years old, with a thin build. The victim is a 35 year old male from East Los Angeles.
