Two Men Arrested for Burglary

While patrolling in the area of 15735 Leffingwell Road, a Whittier Police Officer noticed two suspicious subjects at the southwest corner of Santa Gertrudes Avenue and Leffingwell Road. As he watched the subjects they went to the rear of the business and he lost sight of them. A short time later, he regained visual on the subjects and detained them. One of the subjects had what appeared to be a small caliber semi auto handgun in his waistband that turned out to be a pellet gun. The two subjects also had wire cutters, gloves, and other burglary paraphernalia. Further investigation revealed they had cut through the chain link fence of the fenced off gas station and had entered the business which is closed for remodeling. While there was no apparent loss, the two subjects were arrested for commercial burglary. The subject who was in possession of the gun was also charged with suspicion of robbery. The two arrested were Emmett Grantham, 36 of Whittier and Brandon Zabala, 21 of Whittier
