Armed Robbery

At 8:15 a.m. the Department received a call of a robbery in progress at Carmenita Seafood (12937 Sunshine, Santa Fe Springs). Five armed suspects entered the business and took it over. After the robbery and as the suspects left the location, several shots were fired. It is unknown at this time who fired the shots. Witnesses provided police with good vehicle and suspects description and a direction of travel. Undercover officers located the getaway van in the parking lot of Target, at 12051 Imperial Hwy in Norwalk. When the suspects exited the van, they were confronted by our officers. One suspect was taken into custody immediately and four others fled on foot. Whittier Officers working with Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies and Aero Bureau set up a large containment, which resulted in the detention of several suspects and the location of several weapons.

Officers are still processing the crime scene at this time.
